Featured Properties: Great Deals In Great Neighborhoods

This week, I want to focus on a West of Trail beauty and an adorable Siesta Key home I think you'll love.

The highly desirable Granada neighborhood is home to a charming Spanish Mediterranean 3 bedroom/2 bath home at 1681 Bonita Lane that has been tastefully renovated by its current owner. Most of this West of Trail gem features beautiful travertine floors, but the bedrooms retain the original wood flooring for a cozy, retro feel. The kitchen and both bathrooms have been updated with new cabinets and counters, and the kitchen also now includes all new appliances and custom woodwork on the accent wall and breakfast bar.

Two of the bedrooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom, and the master bedroom includes a walk in closet and French doors leading to a little bit of Shangri-La outside. The private back yard includes a brick pavered patio, a new fence, and all new landscaping, maintained with a micro-spray sprinkler system. The screened-in, saltwater pool has been resurfaced with Pebble Tec, and the pump has recently been replaced, creating a fantastic lanai for relaxing or entertaining.

Built in 1959, the numerous upgrades on this home have turned it into a real gem. Imagine 1,744 square feet of air-conditioned, island living close to all the great perks that Sarasota has to offer. At $729,900, this home is going to make someone very happy very soon.

Now onto Siesta Key...

If you've spent any time looking at real estate on Siesta Key, you probably already know how challenging it can be to find a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom single family home for under $600,000. This particular gem is located at 622 Tropical Circle in the Siesta Bayside Club, a place known for the number of homes priced in the multi-millions. To have neighbors like that in a house like this would make quite a few people jump for joy, and the extra bonus of getting to live so close to Siesta Key Beach would have some thinking they'd died and gone to heaven.

Truly, this house is heavenly. It's been fantastically maintained since being built in 1977, and the backyard features an expansive lanai which leads to the screened-in pool and looks out over a private, low-maintenance, fended-in garden. Lush foliage throughout the .21 acre property heightens the sense that you have found yourself in a private little piece of paradise.

Still largely in its fabulous original condition, the 1,680 square foot home has a wonderful retro, vintage feel. One of the thoughtful, modern upgrades, however, has been the addition of a solar panel hot water heater, which can offer considerable savings on the electric bill. The  home also features a large, two-car garage and hurricane shutters to offer protection during storm season. With an asking price of $557,000, this may be one of the best finds on Siesta Key at the moment.
