Golden Gate Point has developed over the last century as one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Downtown Sarasota.

Like Bird Key, Golden Gate Point is another community that has been built by Sarasota ingenuity, creating residences with some of the most spectacular views in the entire County. Nestled in Sarasota Bay at the east end of the John Ringling Bridge, Golden Gate Point has become one of Downtown Sarasota's most exclusive neighborhoods. It's hard to believe that much of the 22-acre peninsula was still undeveloped only a few decades ago.

When it was first platted on August 31, 1899, the small strip of land was little more than a mangrove swamp. Thick with cabbage palms and other vegetation at the turn of the century, the only building

The community of Lake Sarasota started around one of the Florida tourist attractions that helped make Florida the destination it has become. From 1955 to 1959, the Sunshine Springs & Gardens offered visitors twenty acres of tropical gardens, complete with swan boat tours, and a water ski show on a 400-acre, man-made lake, featuring water-skiing elephants and the "Aquabelles" female ski tea. What remains of the lake is now the 16-acre Lakeview Park, which features a playground, picnic area, canoe/kayak access to the lake, and a paw park, and parts of Bent Tree Country Club, which borders Lake Sarasota, to the east.

The neighborhood is also bordered by I-75 to the west, Bee Ridge Road to the north, and Proctor Road to the south. Given Lake Sarasota's

Sarasota may be most well-known for its beautiful beaches, and since they are an integral part of paradise, I thought you might want to know which ones are not to miss and what to expect from each of them.

Bent Tree is one of Sarasota's oldest communities, offering spacious lots and wonderful amenities. Desoto Lakes offers residents the opportunity to feel like they are living in the country while being less than twenty minutes from Downtown Sarasota. Although many of the streets are quite suburban, with quarter and half acre lots, the neighborhood also features a number of larger lots as well.

As one of the older neighborhoods in the Sarasota area, many of the bigger lots have been left largely in their natural states, providing a lovely natural habitat of tall pine trees, stately oaks, and plenty of palmettos and other lush foliage for the "Old Florida" feel. Many of the residents appreciate the diverse population of both domestic and native animals. It is quite common to spot eagles, hawks, and osprey flying overhead and armadillos, opossums,

In 1995, the master-planned community started developing seven different villages on a former timber ranch on the border of Sarasota and Manatee counties. Summerfield, the first neighborhood development, has since evolved into the fourteen different villages of Lakewood Ranch, offering a wide range of single-family homes, condominiums, villas, townhomes, and luxury estates. Each village in Lakewood Ranch has its own distinct vibe, catering to a certain sort of lifestyle.

Condominiums in the gated enclave of the Esplanade and the 55+ Del Webb start in the mid $200s, while the downtown vibe of the Waterfront at Main Street start in the high $300s. Beyond the gates of Country Club East and Lakewood National are some of the finest golf courses around
